ウェス・クレイヴン

１９３９年、アメリカ、オハイオ州クリーヴランド生まれ。ボルチモア州ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学で哲学の修士号を取る。卒業後は大学・高校で５年間教職に就くが、６９年、映画製作を志してニューヨークへ。のちに『１３日の金曜日』シリーズをヒットさせるショーン・Ｓ・カニンガム監督と知り合い、７２年に『鮮血の美学』で監督デビューを果たす。その後、『エルム街の悪夢』『スクリーム』の２大ヒット・シリーズを手がけ、ホラー映画の大家となった。また、９９年にはメリル・ストリープ主演の感動大作『ミュージック・オブ・ハート』を監督している
